On one of her trips to Greece to meet with suppliers, Krista discovered traditional Greek folk embroidery designs for the home. She began stitching and designing and opened Avlea Folk Embroidery in 2017 to share traditional folk embroidery with a new generation of stitchers.

There has been a growing interest in her designs and her kits have been featured in magazines, podcasts, and are now sold in many shops in the US as well as through the Avlea Folk Embroidery website.
